Advisory
More and more organizations are looking for new ways to create innovative offerings that generate quick market traction. Of course, this is much easier said than done. And while it is the products that our customers and partners buy, it's the people behind the products who make products great. At Daruma, I have been part of many great (and not-so-great) products, and my experiences have given me a grounding in areas critical to building and making product teams more effective. These approaches vary based on the maturity of the team and the products they creat and maintain.
Types of Engagements
1
Coaching
Product jobs are often more complex than other roles, Using influence and negotiation instead of authority can be a challenge to new leaders. However, it is more than that. Product leaders also need to have diverse almost athletic skills to meet the needs of many internal and external stakeholders. There is no manual. I have personally benefitted from multiple coaches and mentors over the years. I have found that a coaching and mentoring process to be one of the most effective leadership development options available.
2
Group Facilitation
Sometimes, everyone is not aligned. Or maybe a team is too busy to consider long term implications. Or maybe the team is not gelling. All of these situations could use an unbiased and experienced third party to advise leadership on the right path forward. This may be delivered as an point engagement or workshop or a longer term retained effort. Either way, with deep experiences in driving alignment across teams is a specialty area for us.
3
Decision Frameworks
Nothing settles differences of opinion quite like a rich analysis of data and options can. This is particularly true with product lines where differing opinions from internal and external stakeholders create friction or delays. Whatever the situation, product leaders sometimes need help, gathering analyzing and presenting data-driven analysis and outcomes to make teh right decision for the product. I can help gether data, develop models and articulate the way forward.
